The work, step by step
How we handle christmas & permanent lighting
-
Measure and quote from the roofline
The run is measured off the actual eaves and peaks rather than estimated, so the quote matches the house.
-
Book early enough to install safely
The install window closes when the weather makes roof work unsafe, and it closes earlier in Prince George than in Victoria.
-
Install our lights, not yours
We supply commercial-grade lights and fit them. You are not buying a box of lights or storing one in the garage afterwards.
-
Take down and store
Takedown in the new year is included, and the lights go back to us for the off-season rather than into your loft.

Prince George
Before you book
In Prince George the constraint is cold and daylight, not rain. Installation has to be finished before the deep cold arrives, because working on a roof at minus twenty is neither safe nor good work, and the daylight window in November is short.
Cold also changes the hardware. Wire and clips go brittle in real cold, and a run installed warm and left through a Prince George winter has to be built to take contraction that a coastal install never sees.
More about christmas & permanent lighting
The other difference is takedown. Lights come down when the roof is safe to walk on again, which here can be considerably later than people expect.
Snow load is the part that catches people out. A run clipped along an eave in October is under a load of snow by December, and anything not fixed with that in mind gets pulled loose by the weight or torn off when the roof sheds. It has to be installed for a roof that will be carrying snow, not for the roof as it looks in autumn.
Daylight is a genuine scheduling constraint here in a way it is not on the coast. Prince George loses a lot of afternoon in December, and roof work needs light — which is another reason the install happens in October rather than the week before it is wanted.
Your property
College Heights and Southridge have newer housing with steep snow-shedding roofs — good-looking installs, harder access. The Crescents and Heritage have older, lower rooflines that are usually simpler. The Hart and the rural edges mean longer runs and more travel.
Timing your visit
Booking starts before the cold and snow set in. Installation and takedown timing depends on roof conditions and the weather, so the quote confirms the dates for your property.
You do not need to be home
- Access to the yard
- Gates unlocked
- Pets inside
- An outdoor tap we can use
What we do not do
- Electrical work beyond plugging into an existing exterior outlet
- Installing on a roof we judge unsafe to access
Commercial lighting
We light businesses as well as houses — storefronts, offices and commercial frontages. It is quoted separately from residential because the run lengths, the access and the timing are all different, and a commercial building is usually a conversation rather than a form. Call and ask for a commercial quote.

Can I just buy the lights instead of leasing them?
You can, but it usually costs more in the end. The lease covers the lights, the install, the takedown, the storage and any maintenance during the season, so you get a set that fits the house properly every year and nothing to store. Buying means you own a set cut for one roofline, and you are the one back up the ladder.
Can you just leave them up all year?
We take them down, and it is deliberate. Left up, the install costs more to begin with, the sun fades them through the summer, and sections come loose and need callouts. Taking them down in the new year is what keeps the set looking new the following December. Permanent lighting is the option if you want something up year-round — it is a different product, fitted once.
What kind of lights are they?
Commercial-grade LED, custom cut to your roofline rather than a boxed length off a shelf, and in whatever colour you want. Cut to fit is the reason the line along the eaves looks straight instead of looped.
Do you supply the lights or do I?
We do. Commercial-grade lights, supplied as part of the job — you are not buying them and you are not storing them.
Is takedown included, and where do the lights go afterwards?
Takedown is included, and so is off-season storage. The lights come back to us in the new year rather than into your garage.
