Who we are

Shine Property Maintenance Services Inc., operating as Shine Property Services in Victoria and Prince George, BC.

Our privacy officer is the Owner, Craig MacDonald. If he is away, our office handles privacy requests through the same contact.

What we collect and why

• When you ask for a quote, book an appointment or hire us, we collect your name, phone number, email, property address, details about the work, photos of the job, and our messages and calls with you.
• We use this information to respond to you, quote, schedule and do the work, invoice and take payment, handle warranty or service issues, and keep the records the law requires.
• We use our employees’ and applicants’ information to hire, schedule, pay and manage our team.

Payment cards

Card payments go through our payment provider’s secure payment page. We don’t store your full card number or security code. Please don’t send card numbers by text, email or in notes.

Texts and emails

• We text and email you about your quote, appointment and job.
• You can stop promotional messages at any time. Reply STOP to any text, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or contact us. We act on it within 10 business days.
• For help with texts, reply HELP. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
• You don’t have to agree to texts to get a quote or service.
• We don’t share your mobile number with other companies for their own marketing.

Calls

Some calls may be answered by an automated assistant. Those calls may be recorded or transcribed so we can follow up.

Website cookies and measurement

• Our website uses cookies and similar tools from Google and Meta to see how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising.
• We keep campaign details, such as the ad or page that brought you here, for up to 90 days. This links your quote request to the visits that led to it.
• Your quote details are not placed in advertising cookies.
• You can turn off cookies in your browser settings.

Address suggestions. Your property address is required for a quote. When address suggestions are on, the address you type is sent to Google to find matches. You can type your address yourself without picking a suggestion. We don’t send your name, phone or email to the address search. Google handles address searches under its Privacy Policy and Google Maps Terms of Service.

Who we share with

• Only the service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need. These are our customer database, scheduling and job-management software, phone and texting, email, mapping, payment processing, AI tools that help us answer calls and messages, and advertising measurement on our website.
• Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. Some booking support is done by a team member working outside Canada.
• Information held outside Canada may be accessible to that country’s courts and authorities. We stay responsible for it.
• We don’t sell your personal information.
• We may disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

As long as we need it for the reasons above and for tax and legal requirements. Financial records are generally kept six years. Then we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your choices and rights

• You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent to optional uses, such as marketing.
• Contact our privacy officer at [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
• If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC.

Children

We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

When we update this policy, we change the date at the top of this page.
