Soft Washing VS Pressure Washing: Which Is Better For Your Home?

If you’re like most homeowners, you want to protect your investment and keep your home looking its best. There are a few different ways to clean the exterior of your house: soft washing, pressure washing, and power washing. So which one is the best option for you?

In this blog post, we will compare soft washing and pressure washing and discuss the benefits of each method.

Benefits of Soft Washing:

  • Soft washing is a gentle cleaning method that uses low pressure and eco-friendly detergents to clean your home. It is perfect for homes with vinyl, painted wood, or Hardie siding as it will not damage the surface of your home.
  • Soft washing is effective at removing dirt, mold, mildew, and algae from your home.
  • Soft washing is very good for roof cleaning as there is no pressure while cleaning the roof. You cannot use high pressured water on a roof.
  • Soft wash uses chemicals/soaps to clean a surface rather than using “pressure”. This is best for delicate surfaces because you are ensuring no damage to your investment.
  • Soft wash attacks the “root” of organics on the exterior of your home, this means the mold and mildew will subside longer than if you clean it with pressure. In theory you are killing the grime rather than pressuring it off.

Benefits of Pressure Washing :

  • Pressure washing is a more aggressive cleaning method than “soft wash” which uses high pressured water to clean the surface. Using high pressure water can be good for surfaces such as concrete, brick and pavement. High pressured water is not good for surfaces such as vinyl siding, windows, frames, painted wood and some types of metals.
  • Pressure washing is effective at removing the same things as soft wash (dirt, mildew, algae) but it is used on harder surfaces that won’t be effected by high water pressure.
  • Pressure washing is able to remove “harder” stains than soft washing can due to the PSI of the water. Ex. an oil stain on a concrete driveway will need pressure washing.

Conclusion :

So which is the best option for you? If you are looking to clean home vinyl, painted wood, or Hardie siding, soft washing is the better option. If you are looking to clean concrete, brick, or pavement, pressure washing is the better option. Keep in mind this is in general terms, there are cases where you may need to use other methods on different surfaces to get the desired clean you are after.

  1. It’s good to know that pressure washing can help remove oil stains on your driveway. I’m hoping to sell my home in the next few months. I have several oil stains on my driveway, and I would really like to get them removed.
